Nick Gray, an ACCP from King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust & Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, traveled 300 kilometers from London to Paris in 24 hours on his bicycle with the SCHILLER FRED®easyport® plus attached to it.
Duchenne UK is a charity that supports affected families and research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The charity organized the Duchenne Dash event to support a Foodbuy charity initiative.
The event aimed to raise money for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a devastating muscle-wasting disease and the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. DMD primarily affects boys and is typically diagnosed in childhood between the ages of three and six. It leads to a gradual weakening of all muscles in the body. Currently, there is no cure for Duchenne, but Duchenne UK is at the forefront of advancing treatments and care for everyone affected by the disease.
Nick Gray cycled 300 kilometers from London to Paris within 24 hours, carrying the SCHILLER defibrillator, to raise money for Duchenne UK.
The SCHILLER FRED easyport plus is a compact and lightweight AED, making it suitable for long-distance travel while attached to a bike. Nick attached the SCHILLER FRED® easyport ®plus to his bicycle and rode for over 600 kilometers.
Nick explains why he wears a SCHILLER device: “Along the way, I will play a small role in providing medical cover for the other 140 cyclists who are also participating in the DASH event organized by Duchenne UK.”
