Schiller India’s Life-Saving AEDs Now Installed at 12 Major Mumbai Railway Stations

In a significant step towards enhancing public safety, Schiller India in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport, has successfully installed FRED® PA-1 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) at 12 high-traffic railway stations across Mumbai. This initiative, spearheaded by Dr. Akshay Mehta, President of the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport and a renowned interventional cardiologist, aims to provide immediate life-saving assistance in the event of sudden cardiac arrests.

The FRED® PA-1 AEDs have been strategically installed at major stations, including Andheri, Vile Parle, Santacruz, Bandra, Malad, Jogeshwari, Dombivili, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel, Churchgate, Borivali, and Marine Lines. These locations were selected to ensure maximum accessibility and rapid response in emergencies.

Further reinforcing our dedication to public health, Schiller India, alongside the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport, conducted comprehensive training sessions for railway staff and police personnel. These sessions, which included hands-on CPR practice led by Dr. Akshay Mehta, were designed to equip participants with the skills necessary to recognize and respond effectively to cardiac emergencies.

“We are proud to contribute to the well-being of the community through the installation of our FRED® PA-1 units at these crucial railway stations, and we look forward to expanding these installations across all railway stations in India,” said Mr. Vikram Sanghvi, Managing Director of Schiller India.

In a remarkable testament to the impact of this initiative, just a week after the placement of our AED at Marine Lines and the accompanying CPR training, a life was saved yesterday at Marine Lines Station by the quick and skilled response of the staff using the AED machine. This marks a historic moment, as it is likely the first time a life has been saved using an AED at a railway station in India. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all the generous donors, including IW PDC Pallavi Choksi, who donated this Schiller AED at Marine Lines. Their contributions are not just donations but true gifts of life.
