Great success for the SCHILLER defibrillator FRED easyport: the defibrillator was delivered by an autonomous drone and helped to save the life of a cardiac arrest patient. SCHILLER congratulates Everdrone and Karolinska Institutet on their pioneering achievement.
Autonomous drone helps save the life of a cardiac arrest patient
For the first time in medical history, a drone has played a crucial part in saving a life during a sudden cardiac arrest. This unique achievement took place in Trollhättan, Sweden in December of 2021, when an Everdrone autonomous drone delivered a SCHILLER FRED easyport defibrillator that helped save the life of a 71-year-old man.
Everdrone, a company from Sweden, has developed an Emergency Medical Aerial Delivery (EMADE) service drone in partnership with the Center for Resuscitation Science at Karolinska Institutet. It’s designed to allow emergency dispatchers to send the drone to a caller’s home and kickstart the medical process before the ambulance. They work with the SCHILLER defibrillator FRED easyport because of its light weight and small size.

The drone system has been scientifically established to cut response times and the full study is published in the European Heart Journal.
SCHILLER is proud to once again have saved a life with one of our products and to have contributed to this pioneering achievement.
