Schiller Healthcare Launches Medrad's Stellant™ Dual Head CT Injection System.

May 23, 2003: Schiller Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd., introduces the Stellant™ CT Injection System, from Medrad Inc. a fluid delivery system designed to meet the latest clinical, safety and ease-of-use requirements of rapidly evolving Computed Tomography (CT) technology. According to Rahul Sali, General Manager, "Product features including saline flush, pressure monitor graph, improved syringe design, syringe auto load and the ability to upgrade from single to dual injection were designed with input from radiology thought leaders around the world, who are forging new frontiers in CT imaging." He adds, "Schiller Healthcare India's aim is to bring affordable high quality medical diagnostic products and back it up with unparalleled service support.''

Stellant's ability to precisely deliver contrast fluid under multiple CT protocols is critical to match the speed of today's faster multi-detector CT scanners, and for new procedures including trauma, angiography and cardiology exams. These new procedures, which incorporate robust injection protocols with saline flush capability, are fueling extended growth of the CT modality. Procedure growth and the expansion of new CT applications creates more patient throughput on CT scanners, which in turn creates demand for equipment that is easy to operate, accurate and safe.

Stellant is designed to meet the immediate needs of research-intensive, high-volume academic settings, yet is versatile enough to meet the evolving needs of rural and freestanding imaging facilities. Product features include:

Dual Syringe maximizes use of contrast - The dual syringe injector head adds the saline flush capability required for advanced clinical applications. It also optimizes the use of contrast media by priming the disposable set with saline instead of contrast, and performing the test inject and final flush with saline.

Pressure Monitor Graph provides more information - The pressure monitor graph displays the pressure developed in the syringe during an injection, providing real-time visual evidence of the status of the injection to the clinician.

Improved Syringe Design saves time - Syringe installation is non-orientation specific, so syringe just snaps onto the injector head. After the procedure, the syringe detaches with a twist and the plunger automatically retracts to be ready for the next case.

Integral Auto Load saves time - This feature automatically fills the contrast syringe to the appropriate volume and purges air, reducing the time and steps needed to load a syringe.

Upgradability - The injector head design is available in two models, single syringe for routine protocols, and dual syringe with saline flush capability for the most advanced clinical applications. The single syringe model can be upgraded simply by changing the injector head. Easy-to-upgrade software also enables Stellant to evolve as new protocols become available.

Priming tube captures excess fluid - The priming tube acts as a mini reservoir that captures excess fluid and prevents contrast or saline overflow.
Remote Arming saves time - The user can save time and steps by arming the injector at the actual injector head near the patient, instead of from the control room.

Color Monitor and Protocol Storage - An easy-to-read graphical user interface features a color touch screen that stores up to 32 protocols.

Computed tomography (CT) is a noninvasive diagnostic procedure that produces an image of a cross-section of soft tissue, organs and vascular systems. Image quality is significantly enhanced when contrast fluid is injected into the body using the Stellant CT Injection System, which can precisely coordinate the timing, amount and speed of the injection. This precision minimizes variability, making it possible to track a patient's progress under reproducible scan conditions.
